Read 272.) Zechariah 1:7-6:15. It's 519 BC and Zechariah is receiving visions from the Lord. What are they and what do they mean? The first is from 1:7 thru 17 of a man among some myrtle trees. This first one is to relate that the Lord would restore Jerusalem in a great manner that it was not yet at that time. Verses 16 and 17 likely speak of that restoration Israel would know come the Millennium. Verses 18 thru 21 was a second vision of 4 horns and 4 craftsmen relating to this thing of Israel being exiled as per The 5th Prophecy, but also of her restoration in keeping with The 6th Promise and Prophecy. Chapter 2 goes to a third vision about a man with a measuring line. And because it speaks of Jerusalem being very great and without walls, and the Lord living within it, we can be quite sure that verses 3 thru 5 and 10 thru 13 speak of a distant future day in Christ's Millennial Kingdom.
Chapter 3 relates a 4th vision concerning clean garments for the high priest Joshua who was alive and ministering unto Israel in that time. And beginning with verse 8 it goes to Jesus the Branch and next tells of how Israel will be saved in a day, that day Jesus returns for Israel at the end of their Tribulation to begin the Millennium. Verse 10 speaks of eventual peace in that kingdom. Chapter 4 holds a 5th vision of a gold lampstand and 2 olive trees. The idea is that prize and choice servants will accomplish God's will by the might of His Holy Spirit. Zerubbabel will complete this temple then under construction and will finish it by God's might!
Chapter 5 has 2 visions, one is verses 1 thru 4 and the other verses 5 thru 11, and both are of the End Times! The first was of a large flying scroll which declared that thieves and liars will not inherit the coming kingdom of the Lord, as Revelation 21:8 similarly says of the eternal kingdom afterward. The second vision is of a woman in a basket having a lead cover to retain her, and she being taken away to Babylon, would likely be a reference to the wickedness of final Babylon in the Tribulation of the End-Times and referred to in Revelation 18.
Finally, chapter 6 tells of an eighth vision of 4 chariots. These are told us in verses 1 thru 8, and would seem to be quite cryptic and mystical, but the last verse, 8, would seem to relate to that control God is exercising over that people far north of Israel, that they not come against Israel until that time in the end when the Lord said that He would bring them down to come against Israel in the last days. Chapter 6 ends with Millennial prophecy concerning the Branch, Messiah, Jesus, in verses 12 thru 15. He will be responsible for the construction perhaps of Ezekiel's temple from chapters 40 and 41 of his book, along with this high priest Joshua. The End-Times will be incredibly glorious. It's what the Book is all about!
