When The Last Was Never The Last…

The last page of our notebooks in college days never used to be the last one. Sometimes we used to start our notebook from the last page itself, and if that page was not sufficient, we used to add other pages from the back side as the last ones.

You might be guessing, and guessing it right, why it was so special. This used to be the most colourful and priceless page of our student life, where creativity was reflected at its best, where space was not a constraint.

It was the place where we used to scribble any random things under the sky ranging from innovative designs, teachers' cartoons, friends' caricatures, love songs, poetry, quotes, favourite filmi songs, and all sorts of games, especially short time games like tic-tac-toe with adjacent friends along with marks of right and wrong.

The last page used to cover both happy and sad things. Whenever we didn't like the topic or the delivery of lecture in a class, we used to take refuge in the last page of a booklet to entertain ourselves. That was the best thing to do to escape from the drudgery of boring classes.

We could practise here how to sign, we could check here whether our pen is working or not, and we could also check what was running in the minds of friends about an outing, movie, play etc when the class was going on.

We would put name of our secret crush using the art of calligraphy and then strike it off so that no one could see and make fun of us. But our skill of drawing improved a lot that helped us make artistic diagrams in our biology classes.

Knowingly or unknowingly, we used to cherish and treasure the last pages of our notebooks, where creativity was born, our communication skill improved, and last but not the least, the first seeds of love germinated. 😊

That last never used to be the last one, but lasted forever. I wish we could start from that last that would always last.
