Introduction
Hello again! It feels like a lifetime since I last published a blog post, and it feels good to be back. June was a quiet one for me regarding blogging, as I found it hard to balance all the areas you should be juggling in adulthood.
But, I love blogging, so I knew I couldn't stay away for long; I just needed to take a break, realign my focus, take everything that went wrong, and use it to create a schedule that works for me.
So here I am; I've jumped back in with more of an understanding of what I need to juggle. I wanted to take the time to write a June roundup blog post to let you know why I took an impromptu blogging break and what happened in June.
Impromptu blogging break
For the people that can juggle a social life, work, family life, hobbies, exercise, drinking enough water and more, I applaud you. I haven't got the hang of balancing everything, so blogging got put on the back burner in June.
I didn't plan a break; it just happened.
I am glad I did, though, as I wasn't in a good mind space, so a little break allowed me to realign my focus and just breathe.
June activities
As mentioned in my this time next year blog post, I am focusing on three areas this year - career, wellbeing and blogging. While I didn't do much in terms of blogging in June, I have been working on my career and wellbeing.
Career
For those of you that don't know, I've been searching for a new job. I've had what felt like mini heartbreaks throughout June, as I've fallen in love with different job descriptions, only to receive no response or an automated email of rejection.
I've still got my fingers firmly crossed for a few I applied for at the end of June, but I will keep searching, as I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket.
Wellbeing
I've managed to keep up with my general wellbeing in June! I've continued exercising and even started eating new foods. I feel good, and I am beginning to feel comfortable in my own body as I work on recognising what my body does for me, as opposed to how it looks.
Also, for the first time this year, I bought some new-to-me clothes from a local charity shop, and I disregarded the sizing and focused on picking something that fit my body, and they fit so well! Not only that but for the first time since, I don't know when I looked in the mirror and smiled at my reflection.
I feel good and more energised, but that could be because I've cut down significantly on takeaways as well.
Plans for July
As mentioned, I am focusing on three key topics this year which are blogging, career and wellbeing. This section will share what plans I have for July in these three areas.
Blogging
I spent a portion of June gathering my thoughts and ideas on blogging and accumulating them in one space, an excel spreadsheet. While I do love a good notebook, I found that my ideas were scattered across various books, note apps and documents, making it harder to write blog posts.
Now, I have an excel spreadsheet outlining what blog posts I have planned, what is scheduled, what categories I focus on, and blog post ideas. I even have a sheet with information on different bloggers so I can keep up-to-date with my favourite bloggers, although I am still adding to that sheet as there are a lot!
I also have specific days for miscellaneous blogging activities, such as commenting on blog posts, engaging on Twitter and sharing content by other bloggers. While I want to do these activities every day, I think it helps if I have specific days to allocate time for these jobs. I will still be trying to engage each day, but I will have specific days where I sit down and focus.
Career
As mentioned, I am searching for a new job. No luck in June, but I will keep going. It can be disheartening, especially when you don't hear back from job roles you can imagine yourself in, but I will persevere.
I aim to continue improving my soft skills in July and will expand my knowledge relating to the career I want.
Wellbeing
Relating to my career, I felt like I didn't deserve to relax in June, as every moment I spent thinking about what jobs to apply for or browsing job sites, even if I was out.
In July, I will be allocating time for self-care more, as I don't deserve to be so harsh on myself.
I also have my birthday in July, so I will see friends and family more. Plus, my brother is back from University, so I will hopefully be seeing him.
I hope to continue with my exercise routine, as it makes me feel much more motivated, even if I just go for a ten-minute walk.
Notable June activities
- I planned a baby shower for my sister; it went well
- I went to a few local gigs
- Hosted a vinyl and cocktail night
- I tried new restaurants in my local area
Summary
There you have it, my brief June 2022 Roundup; maybe not the most exciting, but there is always July. I like to mention the good and the bad in my roundup, as it can be comforting to hear a different perspective.
I will be trying to be more active on the following platforms, so ensure you are following to keep up-to-date with my content. Plus, it is always fun to connect with other bloggers.
Let me know what you did in June in the comments below!
