Le cimentier Holcim en bonne voie de devenir 100 % cloud l'année prochaine. Nutanix lui a permis de franchir le pas de l'hyperconvergence.
Chez Holcim, 60 % des applications et des processus fonctionnent aujourd'hui dans le cloud. Début 2023, annonce le département IT du cimentier, 100 % auront été migrées des environnements sur site vers le cloud -privé ou public.
Avec la technologie ROBO v2.1 (Remote/Branch Office management), le groupe adopte l'hyperconvergence et la possibilité de mettre en œuvre des capacités informatiques graphiques. Des clusters Nutanix à 3 nœuds ont été mis en œuvre comme point de départ. Ils maintiennent la couche de sécurité du pare-feu et modernisent la sauvegarde avec une solution SaaS (Software-as-a-Service).
Efficacité et économies de carbone
Premier bénéfice, plus d'efficacité et réduction des coûts. La plateforme Nutanix permet à Holcim d'optimiser et de faire évoluer le service d'infrastructure de manière récurrente. Elle assure le versionnage et la standardisation à travers les différentes géographies. Au sein de l'organisation IT du groupe, tout est réglé depuis Madrid. Le Global I&O EMEA se charge de fournir des services d'infrastructure et d'exploitation à toute la région EMEA. Le centre fournit des services innovants à plus de 30 000 utilisateurs dans 53 pays, avec une capacité installée de plus de 80 millions de tonnes de ciment par an.
« Nutanix nous aide à fournir des solutions commerciales locales pour compléter les services mis en œuvre sur la plateforme centralisée hébergée sur AWS, explique Francisco Javier Mollá, Global I&O Service Delivery Manager EMEA, Group Holcim. Le département IT a largement contribué à réduire la consommation d'électricité. Nous avons misé sur de nouvelles machines plus efficaces et sur la centralisation des services dans le cloud public. SSC Spain a accompagné Holcim dans les mises en œuvre de chaque site. Les responsables IT de chaque site ont reçu les bundles préconfigurés. L'ensemble de l'opération a été supervisé par Nutanix.
Simplicité et réduction des émissions
Autre enjeu, la durabilité. Le département IT du groupe est particulièrement satisfait des économies d'énergie. Egalement de l'efficacité et de la simplification des processus. « Nous gérons désormais tous les bundles à partir d'une console unique. Nous sommes en mesure d'automatiser les activités critiques telles que les correctifs de sécurité. L'évolutivité est un autre avantage majeur. En termes de sécurité, le groupe Holcim a éliminé le stockage comme point de défaillance unique. Avec l'infrastructure précédente, si le stockage tombait en panne, le système était hors service. Désormais, avec le stockage virtualisé et distribué, ce risque n'est plus. En ce qui concerne les coûts, le modèle de paiement à l'usage permet à l'entreprise de payer ce dont elle a besoin, sans plus. Elle n'est pas contrainte à des coûts de licences élevés.
Zéro émission

Il est aujourd'hui le premier grand producteur de ciment à avoir signé l'engagement des Nations unies de limiter le réchauffement climatique à 1,5 degré Celsius par rapport aux niveaux préindustriels.
