Buildings, urban settings and city planning will now change for addressing the issue related to pandemic. let us begin with from what were the lessons learned in this critical situation.
The first life line was our internet connection. It connected, served and did work for us, otherwise the population would have been drastically reduced. The instant online status, exchange of messages in social media and zoom meetings were all possible because we have internet. Therefore, the primary concern for any development to be habitable would now include internet services.
The human community felt warm and found comfort in sharing experiences during Covid-19 to the extent that we had joked about a very grave situation.
The second important aspect was need to beam down virtually. There are so many problems in commuting from home to office, which can be reduced if we work online and have the option to beam down from one location to another, without luggage.
The second concept has to be worked upon for challenging situations, that may arise in years to come. We have now realized that we can have a better option to work from home rather than going to office. Women would benefit largely, those who have dual roles to play. Maybe, the office will hire women but not require them to show up in person. Thus reducing a mass decrease in mobile population. Only men shall go to office and women will stay at home with family. A new social order will get introduced, where we have e-commerce, payment online and work.
Houses will have spaces for incoming and out going traffic to wash their hands, feet, face and sterilize. Hence a new space will be added to the building main entrance, and perhaps smaller services for small units.
Ventilation will be a must for all spaces, openings will be encouraged, and all service zones will have well-maintained hygiene.
