What does hope mean to you? For some people, hope simply means that they look on the bright side of things and see challenges as opportunities. That's why they might say something like, "I'm hoping for the best." In general terms, hope is our desire for things to change for the better.
For those of us who are Christians, we use the word hope to mean that we believe that good things will happen because our faith is placed in God and we trust His promises. That's why we direct our prayers to God when we need His help. That's why we sing, "Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness."
The Old Testament song says, "You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word." Psalm 119:114 (NKJV)
By that, the writer means that we hang on to God's word as a person would hang on to a rope to stop their fall from a cliff. Hang on to your hope and trust in God's word.
