God has you right where He wants you

Ruth probably wondered if she was in the right field. After all, there were other fields...lots of them. There were bigger fields, smaller fields, busier fields, and more attractive fields than the one she had chosen to work in that day. What if she made a mistake? What if she was supposed to be over there?

Chances are, you have asked yourself this question. Most of us wonder from time to time, "Am I in the right place?"

We find ourselves often questioning whether we are in the right job, in the right town, in the right state, with the right person, etc. It's called second guessing. And as these questions swirl around in our heads, they have a way of keeping us from ever fully immersing ourselves in our given situation. We silently hold back because we think maybe we should be elsewhere.

But what if we are in the right field? What if where we are is exactly where we're supposed to be?

As it turned out for Ruth, she was absolutely in the right field that day. It was not a random accident or a coincidence. Read her story and you will see that God had placed her in that field for a particular reason. Unbeknownst to Ruth, the field belonged to a man by the name of Boaz, a very kind man who was about to change her life for the better by fulfilling the role of a redeemer.

Chalk one up for the providence of God.

Famed missionary Jim Elliot once said, Wherever you are, be all there. In other words, embrace your field. There may be many reasons why the field you find yourself in today doesn't look or feel like the right field. Just remember, God is always at work behind the scenes. He has you right where He wants you. Though you may not be able to recognize it right now, He's doing something redemptive in you, for you, and through you.

Don't worry, you're in the right field.

It's a new day with God. Run with it.
