My younger brother, Mom and I had our last visit with Mike for his birthday in 2013. I suppose I represented Dad because, like him, I held out hope that Mike would show some recognition of his family. Mike is autistic, low functioning and nonverbal. My disappointment was bitter. Selfishly, I thought that Mike would finally recognize me as his brother.
