I couldn't help noticing that the official number of COVID-related mortalities worldwide is now over 6 million, a number similar to that of the people who had died during the holocaust. In South Africa, there is an ongoing attempt to audit the number of deaths to bring the reported number of deaths closer to the number of excess deaths, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done in this regard. The official number of mortalities in South Africa is moving closer to 100,000 and I also noted that those in ICU this week is more than the number reported last week – not enough to cause concern, but still higher.
