When the famous cartoonist, R K Laxman was asked why he always  created "A Common Man" in his cartoons and why not a common woman, he smiled and said, "A woman can never be common."

So the feminism is not about making women strong and equal. They are already strong and equal. It is about changing the way the world perceives her strength and equality.

Realising this fact, probably, the theme for this year's International Women's Day has been chosen as 🌺Gender Equality Today for A Sustainable Tomorrow🌺 and the first step towards equality is knowing, identifying and feeling that you are worth it.

So enable the "power" in "empower" to fight for equality today, tomorrow and always.

We have already come miles ahead fighting for the rights that women enjoy today. But we must strive to push further. And for this, we have to challenge the status quo that holds women back. A mindset has to be changed primarily.

In ancient Hindu texts and writings, girls and women are placed on a high pedestal. They are worshipped as kanyas (girls), as grih laxmis (wives) and as mothers. Vedic scriptures and hymns glorify the dignity of women and emphasise that divinity blossoms where women are honoured.

Shloka 3.56 in Manusmriti says:
यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यन्ते रमन्ते तत्र देवताः
यत्रैतास्तु न पूज्यन्ते सर्वास्तत्राफलाः क्रियाः
(Yatra naryastu pujyante
ramante tatra devata,
yatraitastu na pujyante sarvastatraphala kriyah.)

It means:
Where women are honoured, there the deities are pleased to reside,
but where they are not honoured,
no sacred rite yields results.

She is an angel,
with the wings of happiness
she is the smile
the greeting of the morning
she is life, gives the life
she is the precious gift
of nature to the nature,
she is strength, she is power
she is also sky and earth
gives both light and shadow
she is both soft and hard,
in limited words
a woman is unlimited,
beyond comparison...

Let be a part of woman in every man, and a part of man in every woman. Let all become incarnations of Ardhnarishwar, half-female and half-male, a legendary form of Lord Shiva for creation of a fertile creature that emphasises on the importance of both men and women, the two sides of the same coin, complementing and supplementing each other.

The real welfare of the society will come about only then. And it's the opportune time for transforming momentum to action.

Enjoy the feeling of being special, my dear ladies, and celebrate the essence of being you.

💐Happy International Women's Day🎉
