My Honda Accord has been with me since 2006. It barely had 11 miles on it when I drove it off the dealership so long ago and it has been such a good vehicle to me. There have been many adventures, wrong turns, sing-alongs, visits to new places and returns to known areas. It's at 171K miles and there have been minor issues. Currently the engine light is on due to the catalytic converter, since my latest repair the ABS light is on plus the AC is being a butthead, and I have had to do some other repairs on it but it's still giving me miles to drive. I swear the driver's seat is shaped to the contours of my booty.

My dream is for it to reach 200K miles but as time continues on and the repairs become a bit more common, it is becoming more difficult to justify not getting a newer model. Not having had a car payment for a few years helps the burden of making a large payment on a repair for something that is due to wear and tear, but a newer model also brings a lot of features I do not currently have. My original radio had a CD lodged in it after I made an error popping one in there around nine years ago, so I have been listening to just the radio. It does not have blue-tooth, GPS or anything modern which is a blessing and a headache. More modern vehicles also come with more headaches - chips will break down more, higher price tags on repairs but hopefully that will be much further down the line. It also does not help that I am looking during a pandemic which is affecting many things, cars included.

For now, I am looking online and strategizing, doing research and preparing myself for an event that is becoming more inevitable.
