This is the countdown to Christmas for us here in Palm Desert. The official lighting of the tree is this afternoon down on the El Paseo. It is even more of a crunch time because we are expecting company starting Wednesday right through to our trip down to see the kids, grandkids, and great grandson. (OMG I am old!)
My guest room office gets a new look.
Luckily we have some of the shopping done. Ordering online is a true time saver. We still need to do all the cleaning and finish some decorations. Today I put a table cloth over my desk to protect it from the visitors. Yes, people should know to use coasters but it is safer to remove the obstacle then to try and fix it after the accident. To that end I have covered my desk with a pad and table cloth. Once company start arriving I will put away the monitors, keyboard and mouse, and go back to laptop working. I have some days off but there is always something that needs my attention.
Christmas with the Crawfords at the Desert Rose Playhouse.
Fun things are happening too. We are going to see "Christmas with the Crawfords." If you have never seen this play you should. It is one of my favorites. It's about Joan Crawford and her children, but it's the ones from "Mommie Dearest," hangers, scrub brushes and all. The twist is that Joan and Christina are drag queens, of course and it is Christmas so there are lots of stars dropping by: Hedda Hopper, Ann Miller, Baby Jane Hudson, Judy Garland, Gloria Swanson, Ethel Merman, Carmen Miranda, Mae West and even the Andrew Sisters. And they are also in drag, although sometimes It is hard to tell. The last time I saw this play was in San Francisco many years ago. It should be great entertainment.
