LOVE CAPTURED IN MY TREASURED ROCK FROM THE DESERT AND MEMORIES OF THE WEDDING
Good Morning My Friends,
Soooo lovely to sit alone with Ollie ( my sweet albino cat) curled up on my lap a cuppa in hand and have a long overdue visit with you. Friday started out as my fun day blog because the kids were visiting which quickly changed into my day off where I can live with free abandonment if only in my mind.
But today, I'm starting with coffee instead of my lemon water with Bragg's apple vinegar, juice of all of the colors of the rainbow (beet, kale, carrot.. basically everything from the kitchen sink, and I'm late with posting because I'm writing as I go. ahhhhhhh savoring moments are good. So take a breath in and out before you start to read and pull up a chair and a cuppa or read me later when time permits.
My mini vacation was just the way I live I realized... a whirlwind trip, active and fun and we covered more ground after not traveling much than I can remember. It started out as a quick trip to Santa Barbara to celebrate one of my daughter's best friends wedding and ours and we turned it into an extended time and visited lots of friends which we never do. The bonus was each one had these amazing new bathrooms and since we're supposed to start our bathroom remodel in January it couldn't have been more perfect timing. The stars lined up as the universe always does when we're ready.
First stop Templeton, California in San Louis Obispo, California
I was a passenger so I could read all of you and "catch up" (I'm realizing I will never be caught up.. a slow learner here but ambitious) and I thought of one of my BBF's that lives in Templeton, gave her a jingle and we had an amazing catch up which was awesome. Templeton is in San Louis Obispo and our youngest daughter went to school there so it brings back fond memories and the hiking is incredible.
Next stop, Santa Barbara to meet up with our youngest daughter, Barbican (her blog name ) who was traveling from NYC before the wedding for dinner. Always a joy to unite and share time by ourselves.
Hiking in Montecito, California
Named one of the 50 Top Travel Places to travel in the world by Travel and Leisure in 2019 you can see why when you visit. Montecito is home to some of the area's most stunning stretches of coastline, from Fernald's Point, past the calm waters of Miramar Beach and renowned surf break at Hammonds Point, to sparkling Butterfly Beach. Stand-up paddlers and surfers vie for waves, and sailboats sleepily bob against their moorings offshore.
It's defiantly worth the visit and who knows you might see someone famous sitting at a local coffee shop on Coast Village Road or Upper Village but the real stars are one of the 15 hiking trails of the plethora of the flora fauna of the great outdoors. On a clear day you can see epic views from the city of Santa Barbara to the Channel Islands and beyond.
So lace up your shoes and come along with me.
San Ysidro Falls Trail
The San Ysidro Trail is beautiful taking you through a neighborhood of beautiful homes and then slowly winds up to the Hot Springs for the adventurous so you can guess where we headed. It was breathtaking and although we had barely any waterfalls I remembered the last time I was there when it was gushing with water. Shortly after that they had the fires and lost so many homes and then the tragedy of the mudslide floods in 2018 destroyed many of these properties. If you're interested you can read about it here.
Pictures of the neighborhood as we started our hike.

The Hot Springs Await
"PLEASE SEND WATER" I've been thinking why can't we have a water pipeline from those suffering from to much from those that suffer from not enough because they'd make no money?
Our tank has run dry
Rivers, lakes and sea life cry
