Just as restrictions look to be coming back to the UK, yesterday the celebration of Christmas was back to normal for many. Families were able to meet up and have food and drinks, as restrictions of last year were no more. Of course, a Lynx set and selection box were both received with open arms.

For many, it was a time to give presents to each other, sit down and catch up after being restricted from contact for the last couple of years. In my own household, it was good to connect with family members and find out just what they had been up to during the pandemic. Many of my cousins are now advancing into university and completing their final years of school, while the older members explained about their own achievements, listening to their stories gave me motivation.

The Christmas preparations actually began 2 days before the 25th as my mum and I stood in the kitchen peeling carrots, parsnips and potatoes. As we had seventeen people to feed. I'm sure none of them will mind me saying that we all have a big appetite as well, it was important for us to peel as much as possible to create a feast.

After everyone had completed a lateral flow and sweated over the results, everyone was able to attend and feel safe while giving hugs after producing a negative result. The biggest present of Christmas this year was by far being able to have all of the family around to our house. Seeing people who you haven't seen in over a year was highly rewarding after everyone has had a tough time.

It is important to think about people around the world who were unable to attend family parties due to contracting covid, unable to travel or having to self isolate due to personal health. This made it even more rewarding to be able to sit and eat, laugh and drink with the family again.

Wising a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from me to anybody reading this!
