Intelligent people are nicely placed in society that, they understand a lot and can make even seemingly impossible things work.
However, they are marred by some misconceptions. Some work to their advantage whereas others are just the hearsay that people throw around about them. These misconceptions include items such as:
1.Women are not attracted to the intelligent geeky smart people.
It is a misconception. If you ever watched a reality show called, The Beauty and the Geek, you would be shocked at how attracted to intelligent people those women were. After all we say, "Intelligence is sexy'.
2. You must know the answer.
Intelligent people may admit that they cannot do a particular thing but before they get there, they will try first. You never really have to try if at all you are sure that it will not be possible to do a particular thing. Just let it go.
3. Time should be spent reading, at the library and not in clubs having fun.
This is the ultimate misconception that the intelligent have. You can party and even have someone to date at the club. It will not take away your intelligence. You just have to remember to be self disciplined and don't stop doing your research and reading.
4. You must have a few friends.
You can have many followers on Instagram, why, because you are a hot nerd. You can have many followers on Facebook, why, because you have cool posts. Being intelligent does not disqualify you from being sociable and having many friends.
5. You should not react to people.
People need not push you around because you are the smart and wise one. You can report to the police, go to the boss and even fire people if they deserve it. Wisdom is not always about letting things go. At times you punish to make sure that others are deterred.
6. Relationships are a waste of time.
Two heads are better than one. Imagine if you met someone as smart as you, wouldn't you be twice successful? Of course, you must keep your egos in check.
7. Having fun when one should be working is wrong.
That is very true.
However, fun here does not have to get you from work. Just loosen up a bit. Intelligent people can be very strict for no good reason and thus, push other employees away. Smile with someone and remember to say good morning to employees as they walk in. Go for lunch with someone and give someone a ride home. Loosen up a bit.
8. You must be among the sharpest people in the room and offer solutions to problems.
You do not owe the world anything. If people can't solve it, they can live with the consequences. Don't place heavy burdens upon yourself.
9. Following a tv series is just funny.
Hell, there are some good programs out there that are worth following. They could also be having lots of fascinating information in them. Follow one today. A good example is, Shark Tank, The Rebel Billionaire, Spartacus.
10. Having a party at home is just for spoiled rich kids.
If you graduate from your Masters class in college and have a party at home, that would be a party worth the time. You graduated and have a Masters now. That is neither a waste of money nor time, especially if you put the qualification into good use, like set up an enterprise or something.
There are many misconceptions and fallacies associated with intelligence. These are just some of the ones that I have come across.
