The new Medium regulations require everyone in the partnership program to have at least 100 followers. If you think about it, that's really not a big request. The more people that you have following you, the more people that are going to get notifications when you publish something new.
If you have gotten 100 followers, your next goal should be getting more people to read your articles. The number of reads that you have on your articles will determine how much you get paid, and the more reads that you get, the more you get paid.
So, how do you reach more people? One thing that you can do is to share your publications on social media. Sometimes, you will find that friends that you have on these websites already have Medium accounts, and when Medium readers read your articles, you get paid. If your friends are not Medium members, then you have the chance to get paid by referral. This means that if they sign up for the platform after reading your work, you get paid.
Another thing that you can do to get more reads is pay attention to your tags. See which tags are trending, and write something for that category. Also, you may be able to connect with other writers that write under these tags as well. If you share an interest in the same topics, most likely, you will read each other's work.
Next, you can engage in other author's work. Find an article that you like, and clap or comment. This can help another author, and it shows that you are interested in their work. There are several articles on this platform, so there has to be something that catches your eye, why not reach out to the author?
Finally, building your reads takes time. Don't get discouraged if you build your audience slowly. Disregard negative feedback from others, and stay positive. There are so many others that are trying to do the same thing that you are.
