If you have read my article on Highlighting Articles vs. Commenting, then you know that just because someone comments on your article, doesn't mean they read it. However, if they highlight your article, chances are that they read part of it, because it's kind of difficult to highlight something without reading it.
However, now I want to talk about the difference between the first comment you make on an article and follow-up comments. You see, I've been experimenting with this feature by commenting on articles that I like and read and seeing what it does, and you know what, it actually increases the reads count number on your stats page.
In fact, the other day, I was having a conversation with a couple of gals about a writing event that we were all interested in, and as we commented in conversation with one another, the reads number and the reading time both went up. This was incredible!
We weren't doing anything extra. We were just communicating and sharing our thoughts and experiences, and crazy enough, we were being paid to do it.
So, next time you see an article you like and think about leaving a comment, go ahead, because apparently if both you and the author are on the same page and start a conversation, it might pay off.
