It was a reunion of sorts in the first round of the 2021 FCS Playoffs, as Stephen F. Austin traveled to San Antonio, Texas, to face Incarnate Word, once and future conference rivals.
Our College Football America Yearbookstaff member Chuck Cox was at the game and shot our gallery. Incarnate Word won the game, 35-28, in overtime.
Cox's photo gallery is on our Facebook page and photos of the game could end up in the 2022 edition of the Yearbook. The photos may also be used by the American Football Coaches Association for its web site, social media and publications.
SFA and Incarnate Word were rivals in the Southland Conference up until the end of last season, when SFA, along with three other Southland schools, made the move to the Western Athletic Conference.
Then, when Sam Houston made the move from the WAC to Conference USA — a move that takes effect in the fall of 2023 as the Bearkats move to FBS — the WAC announced that it was inviting the Cardinals to join the league. So, soon, the Lumberjacks and Cardinals will meet annually once again.
The College Football America 2021 Yearbookfeatures more than 900 college football teams from the United States and Canada in more than 250 striking, full-color pages. That includes every team from the NCAA (FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III), NAIA, NJCAA, CCCAA and U Sports (Canada). It also includes updates on club football, one-year postgraduate prep/sports academies and Mexican college football, along with dozens of action shots and stadium photos taken by the CFA staff.
