The MAOA (Mono Amine Oxidase A) Gene is an inherent gene that makes people aggressive in certain circumstances. There are people that are naturally aggressive based on this gene. They can control their aggression if they understand it and what triggers it.

The past trauma may make people either quick to be aggressive or slow to it. What matters is whether the experience that someone had was good or bad. If one had a good experience when they got aggressive and it minimized their trauma, they would naturally see that as a good defense mechanism. It is no wonder a woman may turn down a man early before he asks her out. May be it is past trauma.
