Awakening in the city,
She's surrounded by voices
Yelling, laughing, weeping;
Pots clattering, traffic noises,
Banging, honking, beeping…
She has never felt more alone.
Slipping on her sneakers,
She goes jogging in the snow,
Her breath frosty in the cold.
Dawn breaks behind the gray
And faceless buildings,
A flirty dirty urban sunrise,
Winking pink persuasion,
Eliciting a maybe
Things will turn out fine.
She smiles as she circles
Back toward her home,
And the day is dusted gold.

Welcome to my Friday afternoon paint chip prompt. There are other paint chip prompts out there, but they're very precise in what they ask for. Mine is open ~ write a poem, a story, a memory, whatever you like. Take your inspiration this week from Valspar's "urban sunrise" and/or "awakening." Tag your post Paint Chip Friday, or PCF, if you wish. Prompt will continue until December 31.
