Dr. Dayna Mitchell, affectionately known as 'Dr. Dayna' and 'The Preaching Dentist' is the founder of Pure Smiles Jamaica, a Christian dental practice in Kingston, Jamaica, where God gave her the vision of "Changing Lives, Transforming Smiles and Healing People Through Dentistry."
She graduated from the University of Technology, Jamaica in 2015 with honours in the Doctor of Medical Dentistry, in Surgery (DMD) programme. She also received the Dean's award in recognition of outstanding contribution to Community Service and Paediatric Dentistry. She is committed to improving oral health access, care and education in Jamaica especially through community outreach - one smile at a time.
During her enrollment in dental school she helped to organize and to coordinate multiple successful health fairs and several primary/prep school sessions for oral health instruction; providing free dental health care to approximately 4,000 Jamaicans island-wide. She has an excellent method in patient management and care for both adults and especially children while being very thorough in her approach. She has previously dedicated a significant amount of time to the Public Health Care System (previously employed with the South East Regional Health Authority) as she is keen on the grave need and lack of oral health care, access and education in Jamaica.
She passionate about her career as a dentist and the positive impact that she will be able to have on her patients' oral health. She is committed to providing her patients with the very best professional and personalized service listening keenly to the patients' needs. If she wouldn't recommend it for her family member - she wouldn't treatment-plan it for you!
She has a special interest in Family, Paediatric, Special Needs and Cosmetic Dentistry.
In October 2019, she launched "The Preaching Dentist", a ministry that gets to "the root of the Truth," , teaching the Word through dentistry.
March 2020, she released a book titled, " The Graced Citizen" a devotional about kingdom citizens saved by His Grace, different assignments and purposes ... one calling - to follow Jesus Christ.
