On a wing and a prayer is a 2023 American film . It is an Amazon Prime original and it is set to release on April 7th 2023. This movie is based in actual events that happened on Easter Sunday of 2009. The story is about Doug white and his family and it begins with Doug and his brother Jeff at a barbecue competition in Monroe, a small town in Louisiana. Doug and his brother won the competition and they were happy and celebrating with their family.

The next day Doug gets a call that his brother Jeff had died from an heart attack. Doug took the news really hard because he was so close with his brother and they just hung out and celebrated. Also, Doug had lost other members of his family from heart attack and he was angry at God for taking his loved ones away from him. His wife Teri was doing her best to cheer him up and encourage him to hold on to his faith and trust God.

Anyway, they go to another state for the burial and they were heading back home on Easter Sunday. Because of the holiday there were no flights or much pilots available so they got a small private plane and a pilot to take them home. The journey begins smoothly but mid air, their pilots dies. Doug trying not to panic notifies his family. His wife joins him in the cockpit and they try to land the plan by communicating from people in the watch tower close to them.

This movie is interesting and emotional. It has a strong message of teamwork. Doug and Teri make a great team. They were able to handle flying the plane together . Also the people at the watch tower worked together and did their very best (including outsourcing help from an experienced pilot who was in another state)to make sure Doug and his family landed the plan safely. This shows that most people are kind and would do their best to help someone in need. Also, this is kind of a faith based movie and it encourages us to believe in God in every situation we find ourselves in . After the death of his brother, Doug was questioning his faith but his wife encouraged him. Sometimes bad things happen for our own good. We may not see it while it's happening but at the end we'll see the purpose. God used that incident to draw the family closer to him. Also after that incident Doug became a certified pilot so he would have abandoned that hobby if that incident did not happen. Problems can be blessings in disguise sometimes.
