Stating that many people regret voting the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) into office at the July 26, 2021, general elections, United Workers Party (UWP) Mobilisation Officer Nancy Charles has declared that the electorate is looking forward to her party's return to government.
She asserted that people could barely survive due to the high cost of fuel and groceries.
In addition, the UWP official observed that Saint Lucia has a lot of unemployment.
"You have a lot of persons on the ground who are regretting the decision to elect the Saint Lucia Labour Party and they are looking forward to the United Workers Party coming back into power," Charles told reporters on Thursday.
She explained that over 39,000 people voted for the UWP.
"We have a lot of supporters on the ground," Charles told reporters.
And she said party members and supporters are very excited.
The UWP recently held its delegates conference, which returned Allen Chastanet unopposed as the leader.
The party's convention in April will ratify the decision and the other nominations to the UWP executive.
Charles expressed that the UWP would emerge from the convention bigger, better, stronger, and united, ready to take on the labour party.
