According to a police release, at about 1:30 p.m., the Traffic Department received a report of a runoff collision along Chopin Road, Sarrot, Castries. "Based on initial investigations, the vehicle was observed traveling along Chopin Road when it suddenly started sliding backwards in the opposite direction of its intended path," the release said. The vehicle eventually swerved off the main road and down a steep slope, ejecting its sole occupant. Investigators found the wreckage at the base of a precipice and Peter Leon's body a few feet away. Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) emergency personnel transported the injured Bexon resident to the OKEU Hospital, where a medical practitioner later pronounced the 58-year-old dead.
